Your Bio

My name is Sean O'Brien, I have always had a love for photography and am rarely found without a camera. I work full time in the Metro-Boston area as an EMT and currently in school to become a paramedic. I enjoy shooting historical scenes, landscape, night photography and fire scenes, news stories just about anything, I have had my work published in several newspapers in the Boston area and on the cover of a nationally distributed magazine. Please check back often for updates, as I am traveling New England to shoot new material each week as time allows. I shoot exclusively with Canon SLR cameras, I run a Canon 50D as my primary camera, with an Canon Xti as a back up.

Lawrence, MA - 3rd Alarm - 11/6/09 : At around 1830 hours the Lawrence Fire Department transmitted a telephone alarm for a reported fire in a mill building. Arriving companies found a fire in the former Merrimack Paper Company, located at 9 South Canal Street. A second alarm was sounded on arrival followed shortly by a third alarm, later in the fire Lawrence Fire Group 3 was recalled for extra manpower to the scene. This property was a large mill complex, the fire building being a mixed 1 to 3 story brick construction typical of Mill buildings in the area. Access was limited to companies due to that the C side bordered the Merrimack River, and it was bordered on the A side by a small canal. The building was vacant and posted as such, there fore any attempt at an early interior attack was quickly abandoned for exterior operations only. Not many different angles to shoot from due to the restricted access but I hope you enjoy.

Reading Seagrave Shoot : I was invited by Reading Fire to participate in a small shoot of their new fleet of Seagrave apparatus. Photographer Kevin White also arranged to have Wakefield Fire and Lynnfield Fire be on hand as well. It was my first time doing an actual "apparatus shoot" and it went pretty well considering the logistics involved in that all trucks are front line pieces, we shot on the Reading/Wakefield line in a large parking lot which provided a decent space for the shoot. Many thanks to Kevin White, and the participating departments and duty crews for making this possible.

In attendance was, Reading Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 1, Wakefield Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 1 and Lynnfield Tower Ladder 1

Lighthouses and Coastal Scenes : Thankfully here in New England the coast line is littered with lighthouses, unique buildings mostly constructed well over 100 years ago. These beacons of light provided important navigational aide to sailors both then and now, and also make for some good photography. Here you will find shots of the various lighthouses in MA,NH,ME,RI and the coastal and maritime scenes that can be found nearby.
